Clean up your Mail.app inbox

Are you using Mail.app to manage multiple email accounts, including the mail account that came with your iPhone?

Is your head hurting after you hit a wall, trying to open a can of Inbox Zero in mail.app but your iPhone account won't allow you to create folders?

Fed up with my rhetorical questions?

I love the idea that the "Inbox" in Mail.app shows all mail from accounts its catching mail from. It lets me get a bird's eye view of all incomings.

Mail

I also love the idea of having zero messages in my Inbox. It makes me feel warm inside.

When I'm sifting through my Gmail (setup using IMAP) account in Mail.app, the read email gets archived if I "delete" it. Awesome!

But after I found it impossible to create a folder in the iPhone's mail application, I thought I was screwed. My Mail.app Inbox was full of messages from my iPhone mail account. How am I supposed to archive my iPhone mail account if I can't throw the messages in folders? The green pastures of Merlin-town seemed so far away.

Fear not!

Your Inbox can be saved from the trenches of mismanagement. You can create folders in Mail.app for your iPhone mail account, and it will show up in your iPhone like this:

Here's what I did to keep my shit under complete mother 'effin management:

1. First, you have to setup Mail.app on your desktop to catch your iPhone mail account mails. I'm using IMAP to catch my account, which I've labelled Softbank.

Imap-setting

2. Right click on the newly created account and click "New Mailbox"

New_mailbox

3. Name it whatever you like (ie: read, archived, etc). I want to organize mine by year:

New_folders

4. Drag mails from said account to newly created folder

Whew. Finally, some peace and quite! At least until the next slew of messages come.

I'm sure there are other methods to achieve this (which I would love to hear about in the comments), but this method worked for me.

iPhone Ringtones

Hi there Internet!

I've gone mad and created my own ringtones, based on the stock set that comes with every iOS device Apple ships.

All of your favorites like Alarm, Trill, and Sci-Fi, sung by yours truly, are now available for the ridiculous price of free.

Slightly more annoying than the ones you currently have, but know you're putting a huge smile on my face while thinking of you waking up to my annoying voice!

Fuck the man and download my ringtones biatch!
